Liz Solo in June 08

Liz is currently immersed in the "Machine I Am" Project - a video and performance based work focused on virtual worlds and machinima. She has been presenting excerpts from the project at both live venues and in virtual spaces, most recently screening machinima at the Rose and Thistle in St. John's as part of her "experiments in performance" Series.

For the past months she has been working extensively in two online virtual environments - World of Warcraft and Second Life. Recently she attended the World of Warcraft (WoW) SCIENCE Conference, hosted by Convergent Systems. During this three-day conference scientists and researchers discussed topics related to research in online environments. Liz documented and pieced media together from the the conference, editing machinima video files together with audio generated from text chat log and run through a text to speech editor.

Uploading files via yourTube etc has been frustrating but you may view lo-res pieces by searching "WoW Science Conference" on YouTube. If you have the patience to wait for download you can see much higher reolution files here on this site. Day One and Day Two have been posted. Day Three is still being edited but will be posted soon. These links will open in their own windows so you can browse until they download.

Liz Solo in Amsterdam

Liz Solo's early machinima experiment "Amazing" was featured in a gallery installation at PlanetArt in Amsterdam. See the video here: Amazing or visit Liz's YouTube Page. Her newest project is called Machine I Am and is in its early stages. It explores themes surrounding transhumanist idealogy and human interaction in virtual space. Liz will be incorporating or merging machinima, digital video and live performance to create a new narrative based work.

Liz is currently working with a number of artists and groups online to develop her ideas including Ars Virtua, The I AM CO-OP Project and members of the Second Front Performance Collective. See image and posts about the project on Liz's "Machine I Am" Blog here - Machine I Am

"alien" release

Here is an excerpt from the most recent review of "alien", from The Scope in St. John's, Newfoundland:
Liz Solo's voice is equal parts bitch-goddess and girlish fragility.. her songs are of loss, forgiveness, frustration, scars, bruises, love and the universe. Instrumentation on "alien" ranges from sweet, delicate layering to thick electric rawk. The depths of downtown St. John's and the heights of outer space meet here".
Liz's Cd is available at all of her live shows and very select retail including Fred's Records, The Travel Bug and The Reject Room in St. John's. Downloads available soon on iTunes through Rock Can Roll Independent.
